Square, Recessed Paneled Column
Square columns are a great alternative to the round columns, which are more common. Square columns are hollow and so, therefore, not load bearing; however, they do give the illusion of bearing a great weight. All Elite Recessed Paneled Square Column kits come unassembled and can be installed with or without an existing support post or an existing wall or may stand alone. These square columns are a perfect match to our Recessed Wall wall-panelled wainscoting. A modern panelled look characterized by its clean lines. It can stand on its own or it can be wrapped around an opening as a casing to give it a sense of elegance.

Specifications
The column shaft is shipped unassembled so that it can be used to wrap a jack post, lolly post or an existing support. The base and cap are made from MDF and are only suggested for indoor applications.
The kit includes: 4 - panels that make up the shaft of the column; 3 sets of 4 dividers to be assembled on site (you may order additional), 4 pieces of Traditional Base (precut) to create the base, and 4 pieces of 3" Georgian Crown (precut) to create a capital. The crown trim adds 4 ⅜" to the top portion.  The Traditional Base trim is ½" x 5 1/4" high.  A hardware kit, tape to help glue shaft together, glue and instructions. Everything you see in the drawing is cut to size.
The shaft is made up of four sides that go together like a puzzle, using lock mitre joints for easy assembly. All the smaller pieces are field installed.

As a standard, these columns come in two sizes:
-The 8” version has a true outside dimension of 8” square, the inside is 6" and the panels are about 1" thick MDF, The baseboard adds 1” making the footprint 9”. The cornice adds 4 ½” to the shaft, making it 12 ⅝” at the top.
-The 10” version is 9 ⅜" square, the inside is 7 ⅜" and the panels are about 1" thick MDF, to be primed and painted after installation. The baseboard adds 1” making the footprint 10 ⅜”. The cornice adds 4 ½” to the shaft, making it 14” at the top.

NOTE: The actual Column Shaft is 95”, the capital will add about 2” making the overall height slightly over 8 feet.

Options
As the maximum length that UPS will ship is 8 feet, we offer a very attractive optional one-foot extension (see drawing) for those with a nine-foot ceiling.
Extra dividers: We include one set for the top, middle and bottom.
